1. Why Math classes so popular in the summer?
As part of keeping students busy during the summer, parents should have their
children study math to get ahead, so during the school year they feel more
comfortable with the subject. Besides, math is a tough course and students often
lack the basics needed to succeed.
They are more exposed to modern technologies and rely too much on using
calculators at an early age, so they fail to learn to think about what they are
doing. One needs to think about math, but they want quick results and tend
to take short cuts to achieve them.
Students should be comfortable with Pre-Algebra (7th grade) to start with.
After that, it is a matter of discipline. I see a lot of straight A students
fail at the Algebra 2 level due to a lack of discipline.
The higher the level, the more math basics are relied upon for a good
understanding. Remember, newer concepts of math are constructed on top of older
ones. So, if students are not familiar with the basics, it is very difficult to
lean newer concepts.
Definitely yes, if the student accepts taking an intensive program to rebuild
the weak concepts.
Students need to take a Diagnostic Test that I designed based on basic
concepts needed for each level. Through the test I recognize their weaknesses,
together with their misconceptions, which allows me to suggest, or tailor,
appropriate corrective action for their individual needs.
Explain to them the necessity of math in life with examples. Also, math is
critical to achieving success at the college level. Moreover, students need a
good teacher that they can trust, and it goes from there. I mean a dedicated,
competent teacher. Similarly, if you are sick, you need a good physician
to accurately diagnose the complaint and prescribe a cure. Confidence is coming
from true knowledge. If students understand math the way it is supposed to be
understood, they will love it. They need to walk before they can run. That
instills confidence in all that we do.

We offer Math levels from 5th grade to 12th grade. We specialize in Math. We
are formed by a group of dedicated Math teachers, experienced in teaching math
either at colleges or high schools
The setup is similar to college. Maximum class size of each class is 18
students. Students are taught by teachers with mathematics degrees. The program
is eight weeks long, a total of 40 hours.
They all obtained Masters Degrees in mathematics and have current experience
teaching at college or high school level.
Think, think, and more
think. I would by lying if I said there is a magic shortcut to learning math.
The only "magic" is the willingness of students and dedication of experienced
teachers. I mean, highly competent teachers. Good teachers make big differences.
Studying math without thinking is like eating without chewing; soon, you will
get a stomach ache.
At 7th grade, students are introduced to pre-algebra, a transition from
arithmetic to algebra, which is a beginning level of abstract math. If they get
good grades in pre-algebra, the next two levels are achievable.
Al 10th grade, students take Algebra 2, a level for perfecting all algebra
skills. It requires a lot of concentration, but unfortunately, it is also the
phase when students are exposed to too many extra curricular activities, and are
experiencing the typical teenage crisis period. Students normally don’t do
well in math at this level, and the consequence is too high to pay. The SAT test
is follows not long after and the study of pre-calculus and calculus often
results in failure. This lowers their self-esteem and reduces confidence in
pursuing college level courses.
To me, children should start in 6th grade, paying special attention to their
progress in 7th grade.
If they don’t achieve a grade of A or B at 6th and 7th grades, subsequent years
of math study become burdensome and the chance of being successful becomes
unrealistic.

They are hurry in finishing their homework with the help of parents or a
tutoring center, and by the time they take a test or require thinking, they
blank out. Nothing is in their mind to start with. Let them learn to think in
math and grow out of it, instead of someone else doing the work for them.
Math is a thinking process and an evolving process of logical thinking while
studying operations and numbers.

Pay special attention to definitions and question the concepts behind any new
terminology. Start to do exercises only when you think you are ready. Carefully
read examples in each chapter. Read with a pen, not with an i-Pod.

Not a lot. For an A student: Every hour of math at school = 3
hours of math at home.
For a B student: Ratio is 1:2. For a C student: Ratio1:1.
Good investment = Good pay off, normally.

Call 7-448-7407 to set up a date for a Diagnostic Test. After the test, the
student, along with the test results, will be directed to me, Duc Le, for
further interview. From the interview I will tailor a suggested course of study
for the student.

Yes, if there is a class available for the same level. But, it is allowed
only within the same month.

including all good basics.
